Leopard Shark
(Triakis semifasciata)

HABITAT: The leopard shark lives in bay environments, near the shore, and sometimes in the open ocean. They prefershallow areaswith a muddy or sandy bottom.

DIET: This shark feeds on benthic (bottom dwelling) preysuch as worms, clams, crabs, shrimp, octopus, and small fish.. It has small, pointed teeth, which it uses to capture its prey.

PREDATORS: The leopard shark’s main predators are commercial and sport fisherman.

FUN FACT: Leopard sharks feed on organisms found in the mud. They have, electro-receptors, in their snouts to help them locate buried prey.
